Youth Unlimited (YU) in Greater Vancouver is a faith-based, grass-roots, pioneering organization that offers connection and transformation, fostering mental, physical, social, spiritual and emotional well- being among young people in our community. Jesters Theatre (jesters.ca) is a youth and children’s theatre company located in Mission BC.

Job Description: As Program Manager, you are responsible for the practical implementation of our programming and coordinating our seasonal staff and volunteers in associated tasks.  You are also responsible for personal partner development, participating in fundraisers, training students, participating in the implementation of strategic plans and guiding principles, and maintaining clear relationships and communications with families involved in our programming. The Program Manager understands the vision of Jesters Theatre being a safe place to love theatre and will carry out their tasks with this in mind.  Training is provided as needed.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, sound judgment, integrity, and reliability
  • Budgeting experience

Summer Staff positions available:

 Our summer positions and exact duties therein are tailored to the unique giftings of our applicants. Below are the categories we hire for and how to apply.

Sr. Staff – 30 hrs/wk, $19/hr, mid-May to early August

Ideal for a university aged person with a heart for youth and a knack for planning. Our Sr. Summer Staff take charge of planning the main elements of the camps and how each day will flow together, including scheduling, resource procurement, creation of activity content, team management, and program fundraising. They create lesson plans with appropriate learning objectives and teach classes for youth. Under the Artistic Director’s guidance, the participants will assist with the marketing of the program.  Additionally, the participants will be involved in the skill development of Staff-In-Training. Sr Staff will work alongside Jr. Staff and camp participants ensuring that physical and mental health safety protocols are followed.

Jr. Staff – 30 hrs/wk, $17.40/hr, late June to early August

Ideal for a high school aged person with a heart for youth and the willingness to learn in a team environment. Jr. Staff assist with the final planning of the main camp elements, as well as plan their own specific classes or activities, how they will be implemented, and participate in program fundraising. Under the direction of the Sr. Staff, they will make the main camp themes into reality and learn skills for mentoring our campers and building transformative relationships with them. Jr. Staff will assist the broader staff team in ensuring that physical and mental health safety protocols are followed.

Staff-In-Training – Approx. 20 hrs/wk, volunteer with honouraium at end, late June to early August

Ideal for a high school aged person with a heart for youth and a willingness to learn how to engage youth in performing art related lesson plans. Staff-In-Training assists Summer Program, Leadership Development and Program Assistant staff with various tasks such as devos, research, theme decor, music, art and crafts for youth, help with costumes, end of week performances, and program fundraising.

We love what we do and we believe that it makes a huge difference in the lives of the children and teens who are able to attend our programs. The reality is that programs like ours need funds to run.
